The Sudanese Founding Alliance, known as Tasis, has called for an international investigation into a deadly drone strike in Al-Mazroub, North Kordofan, on Friday morning.
According to preliminary reports, the attack killed nine people and injured around 24 others. The number of casualties could increase as assessments continue.
Meanwhile, Tasis said the strike hit residential areas and densely populated civilian locations. The alliance accused the Sudanese army and groups affiliated with it of being responsible for the attack. These allegations have not been independently verified.
Furthermore, Tasis described the incident as a serious violation of international humanitarian law. It called for an independent and transparent international commission to investigate the circumstances of the strike and establish potential legal responsibility.
In addition, the alliance urged the international community, UN agencies and human rights organizations to respond to the worsening humanitarian situation. It also called for urgent medical assistance for those injured in the attack.
Moreover, Tasis stressed the need to protect civilians and residential areas during the conflict. Its spokesperson, Ahmed Tagad Lissan, said civilian safety should remain a central priority and should not become part of the military confrontation.
Finally, the alliance called for accountability for violations against civilians. It said an independent investigation could help establish the facts, clarify responsibility and support efforts to protect civilians as the conflict continues.
