Initially, during the 2026 National School Excellence Day in Ouagadougou, Captain Traore presented a strong vision for the future of Burkina Faso. He called for a major change in the country′s development strategy.
Next, he stressed that Africa cannot achieve true independence through passivity. According to him, the continent must rely on science, technology and innovation to strengthen its sovereignty.
Moreover, the president criticized social and cultural attitudes that can slow down development. He called for hard work, discipline and patriotism. He also stressed the importance of food self‐sufficient and reducing dependence on international aid.
Meanwhile, this vison is also reflected in the education system. The government want to give greater importance to scientific and technical studies. This is seen as necessary to support industrial development and prepare young people for future challenges.
Therefore, the authorities plan to promote advanced scientific fields and technical training. They also want to recruit more qualified teachers in these areas.
Finally, the government sees academic excellence as an important tool for National development. Burkina Faso wants to prepare a new generation capable of contributing to laboratories, industries and strategic sectors.
In short, the message is clear׃ the country wants to strengthen its sovereignty through education, science, technology and skills of its youth.
