Gabon is introducing a new digital tool aimed at helping entrepreneurs overcome one of their biggest challenges: finding funding for their businesses.
Called ProxiGab, the national platform officially entered service on October 2 under the supervision of Commerce, SMEs and Youth Entrepreneurship Minister Zenaba Gninga Chaning.
The system was developed by the National Agency for Digital Infrastructure and Financial Services (ANINF). It is designed to bring entrepreneurs closer to banks, investors and organizations that provide business support.
Through the platform, business owners can submit their projects, look for financing and establish contact with potential partners. Investors and financial institutions can also identify projects that match their areas of interest.
The initiative comes as Gabon seeks to strengthen support for small businesses.
Access to credit remains difficult for many young companies, particularly during their early stages. ProxiGab is therefore intended to make available opportunities easier to find and improve communication between entrepreneurs and potential funders.
Other financing programs are also being developed. In August 2026, the government announced assistance for 400 young entrepreneurs, with a funding package that could reach 180 million CFA francs. The program involves the Société de Garantie du Gabon and the microfinance institution Épargne et Développement du Gabon.
However, financing is only one part of the platform’s mission. ProxiGab also offers opportunities for mentoring, partnerships and business support. The project was first presented publicly in January before its official deployment in October.
Its impact will ultimately depend on how widely it is used. Authorities will need to encourage entrepreneurs, investors and financial institutions to make the platform part of their regular business activities. If adopted widely, ProxiGab could become a central channel for connecting Gabonese businesses with funding and professional support.
